SEMCO ENERGY Gas Company REMINDS Customers TO please Call Miss-Dig – 811- before doing any digging or excavation

SEMCO ENERGY Gas Company reminds customers to call MISS DIG (811) at least 3 days prior to doing any digging or excavation.  With more people at home this spring, SEMCO has experienced an increase in line hits caused by people digging before calling MISS DIG.

Michigan Law requires that if you plan to dig or excavate you must notify MISS DIG (811) at least 3 days in advance.  It’s one phone call, it’s free and it could save your life.

Important Message to SEMCO ENERGY Gas Company Customers

UPDATE 03/25/20 2:30 PM
You may see SEMCO employees doing critical infrastructure work – Please allow our employees appropriate social distance

SEMCO ENERGY Gas Company employees continue to respond to emergency leak calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They will also continue to perform essential service visits following precautionary protocols.  Most of the critical infrastructure work does not require access to the home and does not create an interruption of service.  In these cases, please allow the technicians to conduct their work and please keep an appropriate social distance.  Also consider bringing pets inside when SEMCO technicians are working in the area.

We appreciate your patience as we work to provide the best possible service during this public health emergency. The health, well-being and safety of our customers, associates and communities will continue to be our top priority each day.

SEMCO Energy Gas Company is actively monitoring Coronavirus (COVID-19) updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the State of Michigan.  SEMCO does not currently anticipate an impact to its services, but the company has implemented guidelines for employees who are in direct contact with customers.

These guidelines include:  avoiding contact with non-work surfaces, washing/sanitizing hands before and after entering homes or businesses and practicing social distancing whenever possible.   When a SEMCO customer requests service that requires an employee to enter  a home or business, SEMCO’s Customer Service Representatives will ask if anyone in the home or business is feeling ill.  This information will allow SEMCO employees to take appropriate precautions to limit the risk of any exposure to illness to SEMCO’s customers and its employees.

If you are feeling ill and have an appointment for service at your home, please contact us at 1-800-624-2019 to reschedule your appointment.
